Authority to overcome sickness dwells in God

The Reverend Wilson D. K. Dumasi, Parish Pastor, Dela Cathedral, E. P. Church, Ghana, on Sunday said the authority and power to overcome illnesses and diseases dwells in the strength of the almighty God.

He said the creator has the power over creation and has power to control the Universe including the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

Rev Dumasi, preaching the sermon under the theme, “Jesus has Power Over Sickness,” exhorted Christians to lift up their hearts onto the Lord to become sinless and righteous and heed to living according to the purpose of God’s principles.

He challenged Christians to “remain prayerful, surrendering full hearts to Christ Jesus”.

He asked whether Christians continued to pray or only at difficult times including sickness or other afflictions or pray fervently and relentlessly.

Rev Dumasi reminded Christians to at all times pray, anywhere, anytime adding that “if life is not connected to spirituality, we disconnect from Christ’s grace and blessings”.

He said COVID-19 pandemic was confounding the world and many things we do normally have become the new normal, science, research and vaccines would work only through Jesus, the Christ’s mercies.

“Jesus, our Redeemer, has power and authority to overcome COVID-19 pandemic and all other afflictions,” he said.

The Parish Pastor said abiding by the safety protocols were precautionary measures in the physical realm, but what mattered was staying in the spirit for healing even when infected.

He said sicknesses and diseases were part of human beings, but the joy and happiness was in the good news and at the centre of mankind’s activities and “we shall overcome all afflictions”.
