Evangelical Presbyterian Development and Relief Agency

The Evangelical Presbyterian Development and Relief Agency is the Social Services Agency of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana. The Social Services Department has been an integral part of the Church since its establishment in 1847 by the Bremen Missionaries.

However, there was a need to incorporate the sector as a corporate entity due to the global changing dynamics of the Non-For-Profit sector and the need for more professionalism and expanding the funding base.

The Evangelical Presbyterian Development and Relief Agency (EPDRA) was therefore incorporated by the Church in the year 2005 with registration number G.16497 by the Registrar General’s Department of Ghana as a legal entity with its Board as Directors.

METHODOLOGY

EPDRA uses community-based approaches in all its community intervention programmes. Both EPDRA and the beneficiary jointly implement activities so as to ensure ownership and continuity by the communities even if EPDRA folds up.

GEOGRAPHICAL COVERAGE

The mandate of EPDRA is to work in the whole country mostly where the presence of the Church is felt. However, over the last years, EPDRA has been active in the Volta and Northern Regions of the country. Our presence can be seen in the following Municipalities and Districts: Ho Municipal, Krachi-East District, Hohoe Municipal, Afadzato South, Yendi Municipal, Chereponi District, Saboba District, Kpandai, Akatsi District, Ketu North District, Kpando District and Nkwanta South District.

TARGET POPULATION

As the mission of the Church, EPDRA’s activities are targeted at under privileged communities of the country. These include women, children, youth, physically challenged persons and other vulnerable in society.
