EVANGELICAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH GHANA (EPCG) INDUCTS NEW CLERK OF GENERAL ASSEMBLY INTO OFFICE

The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) held a colourful induction ceremony for the third (3rd) Clerk of the General Assembly of the Church. The event took place on Sunday 9th January, 2021 at the EPCG Dela Cathedral, Ho-Kpodzi, Ho.

In his sermon, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church, Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. B. D. K. Agbeko (rtd.) reminded the congregants that God has given assurance to be a source of blessing to those He has called just like He did for the nation of Israel; such persons are blessed beyond curse. He added that the apostles readily gave support to the people sent on the evangelistic mission thus same help should be extended to the new Clerk as he takes office. In his welcome remarks to the new Clerk, he stated that he believed God had chosen him specially to work with the team in a commando module to rescue, resuscitate, revive and heal the EPCG. He indicated that he saw him as a seed set to bear great fruits thus he had a call to be different, selfless, and rely on the grace, mercy and favour of God. According to the Moderator, a successful life in ministry is not by academic grade but by grace; it is not by the labour of your own strength but by the favour of God and It is not by merit but the mercy of God.

 

In his acceptance speech, the new Clerk, Rev. Dr. Lawrence Kwaku Dzanku pledged to abide by the principles and standing orders governing the Church. He added that they will run an open-door administration and make conscious efforts towards the revival of the EPCG.

The historic occasion was attended by both present and former members of Parliament including Hon. Benjamin K. Kpodo and Hon. Kofi Attoh, Presbyter Charles Sitsofe Sakyi, Presbyter Executive of the EPCG, Very Rev. Japhet Y. Ledo, Former Moderator of General Assembly, Rev. Dr Cyril Fayose, General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Former Executives of the Church, Presbytery Synod Moderators, Council members of the EPCG, Clergy, Chiefs of Akrofu Agove and Lt. Col.  Edward Appiah Sarpong, Commanding Officer of 66 Artillery Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces.

 

Rev. Dr. L. K. Dzanku is a Senior Minister of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana. He was born into the Dzanku Royal Family at Akrofu Agove on 10th October, 1969.  He is an educationist and a product of Peki Training College (GOVCO), University College of Education Winneba (UCEW) now University of Education, Winneba, University of Ghana and University of Cape Coast (UCC). In 1998, he gained admission to Trinity Theological Seminary (TTS) and has, on completion, risen through the ranks as Associate Minister, District Pastor, Chaplain, Presbytery Synod Vice-Moderator, Synod Moderator and is currently the third Clerk of the General Assembly of the EPCG.

He is married to Mrs. Georgina Sabia Dzanku, a trained teacher and a skills training entrepreneur. They are blessed with six (6) children.
